For the last week or a week and half, India has gone football crazy, with the Hero Intercontinental Cup being played in Mumbai, and crowds thronging the stadium in the tens of thousands. We had the pleasure of watching some great football and the best part of the whole tournament was that India won the finals and took home the trophy.
It was all due to the magical performance given by Indian captain Sunil Chettri who scored goals in all the matches he played.
In the previous match, Kenya was defeated by India 3-0 and even yesterday, they once again defeated Kenya 2-0.
With today’s brace of goals, Sunil Chettri’s goal tally goes up to 64 goals; yes, he will become the 2nd highest international goal scorer, thereby defeating Messi. We all thought that Kenya would take revenge of their last defeat, but Sunil Chettri didn’t let them do so.
This is definitely a proud moment for all of us, whose team showed that they can compete with the best in the world and defeat them irrespective of who the other team and where they are from.
