Boitumelo Thulo, better known as Boity, is a South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman, and model. For her contribution to the music and entertainment industry, Thulo was named one of Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 in 2019.
After releasing her debut single “Wuz Dat” with Nasty C in 2018, she signed a record deal with Def Jam Africa and released her EP 4436 in 2020. At the 27th South African Music Awards, the EP was nominated for Best Hip Hop Album.

Early Life
In 2011, Thulo presented the YOTV educational show “Crib Notes.” Afterward, she hosted the SABC 1 The Media Career Guide Show with Thomani Mahlaba. She also hosted SkyRoom Live, Ridiculousness Africa, Club 808, Zoned, Change Down, and Big Brother Africa.6
Thulo made her acting debut in 2012 on the drama series Rockville. As “Mpho Bogatsu”, she appeared in all 4 seasons.
Thulo made her film debut in 2014 with Dear Betty, where she played “Betty”. She also appeared in Mrs Right Guy (2016) as “Marie”, which wasn’t a significant role.
Boity was nominated for African Social Star at the 47th People’s Choice Awards in October 2021.
Career
During the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa on 21 October 2017, Thulo made her rapping debut. Before Migos arrived, Thulo joined Nasty C as one of the opening acts.
She released her debut single “Wuz Dat” on 30 August 2018, featuring Nasty C. The song became the first female rapper’s platinum single in South Africa, making it the best selling female rapper’s single of all time. Additionally, it won “Best Collaboration” at the 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards, making her the first female lead rapper to do so.
Her second single, “Bakae”, was released on 8 February 2019.
Boity signed a recording deal with Def Jam Africa in 2021. Her tweet was the first to mention it. Her upcoming single “The yano way” was announced on Instagram on August 19, 2021. Daliwonga and Felo will be featured on the song.
