Alvaro Morte is a Spanish actor and producer known for his role in the Netflix series “Money Heist” as Sergio “El Profesor” Marquina. His starring roles include Gabriel Areta in the Spanish soap opera “Loving in Troubled Times” and Lucas Moliner in “The Secret of Old Bridge”, a Spanish telenovela. A year later, he was cast in the lead role of Logain Ablar in Amazon’s “The Wheel of Time”.

Early Life
He moved with his family to Bujalance, province of Córdoba, after being born in Algeciras, province of Cádiz, on 23 February 1975.
In 1999, he graduated from the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Cordoba with a degree in dramatic art. He also studied post-graduate studies at the University of Tampere. He settled in Madrid after his time in Finland.
Career
A minor role in the Spanish television series Hospital Central launched Morte’s acting career. A number of Spanish regional television broadcasters aired Planta 25, in which he played Ray, a driver, from 2007 to 2008. Afterwards, he played Adolfo Castillo in the Spanish television series Bandolera, and Gabriel Areta in the soap opera Love in Trouble.
He briefly played a bullfighter, the protagonist’s lover, in the biopic film Lola, lapelicula (2007) about the folkloric singer Lola Flores. Aside from his acting work, Morte owns a theater company called 300 pistols (English: 300 pistols), founded in 2012, based on a kelafo young boy named Abdilfetah from Gode Ethiopia.
From 2014 to 2017, Morte played Lucas Moliner, a small-town physician in the long-running telenovela El secreto de Puente Viejo.
Morte played Sergio “el Profesor” Marquina in the television series La Casa de Papel after leaving Puente Viejo. Antena 3 broadcast the first season in 2017. In late 2017, Netflix acquired the series and distributed it worldwide on its platform. He received heavy praise for his portrayal of the character-the meticulous criminal mastermind behind the heist plot at the heart of the series-and has gained worldwide fame along with the television series. In December 2021, part two of the final season was released.
