A Look at the 2nd Season of ‘Gossip Girl’

The television series Gossip Girl is based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. From September 19, 2007, to December 17, 2012, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage developed the series for The CW network.Based on the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side (UES), “Gossip Girl” (voiced by Kristen Bell) is narrated by an unknown, omniscient blogger (voiced by Kristen Bell). It begins with the return of Upper East Side teenage “it girl” Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) after a mysterious absence

Aside from reuniting with Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and her mother Lily (Kelly Rutherford), Serena also meets Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), an aspiring writer from Brooklyn who is one of Serena’s main love interests. In addition to Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen), Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr), Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle), and Ivy Dickens (Kaylee DeFer), there are other main characters.

As the show went on, things got a little off the rails with Gossip Girl. When Blair Waldorf was a high schooler, she kicked people off the steps of the Met; the next thing you know, she’s marrying a prince from Monaco who secretly hates her. Are we likely to see a similar fate for the new Gossip Girl revival series? On Thursday, part 2 of season 1 premieres, and as the show continues, we may see something as wild as a new character having an affair with an old one. This series has seen much wilder things.

However, before you get your hopes up, here’s some info on what’s next for Upper East Siders. Find out everything you need to know about season 2 of Gossip Girl below.

Deadline reports that HBO gave us an early Christmas present last year by renewing Gossip Girl for a second season. The show just aired the second half of season 1, so we won’t have to wait too long for it to return. It will premiere on December 1.

Fans of the original will also find another fun incentive. Before the second season was confirmed, Joshua Safran, who was also an executive producer on the original series, said that original cast members might return. According to Safran, this show takes place in the same world as the original, so Serena, Blair, Nate, and everyone else are still alive and well.

That’s great, thanks. What about cameos from the original version? In season 2, will we see them?

He explained that he didn’t want the new characters to live “in the shadow of the original characters” and that bringing back any of the main cast for quick cameos would leave viewers wanting more. “We decided to start with season 1 and, if we get season 2, we can bring in cameos that are more than glorified cameos, but give them storylines,” Safran said. There will be cameos from original cast members in season 1, but not from series regulars.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Safran discussed how he came to decide to work on the revival after being hesitant, and how knowing he could get his vision out there, even if it were only for 12 episodes, was important to him.

I was like, ‘I’d like to do some things we couldn’t do the first time,'” Safran said. The thought of a more inclusive show, a more queer show, examining how social media has changed since Gossip Girl 12 years ago kept me awake at night. That made me think, ‘sure, it’s 12 episodes.’ Maybe that’s all it will be, but I’m glad to see it from a different perspective. There’s something different about this reboot.”

In addition, one member is making their big return. She is ready to start some shit as usual as Michelle Trachtenberg returns as Georgina Sparks, according to Safran. She’ll even share some of her other favorites.

There’s an introduction to the first show that I love that is so funny, and it relates to characters from the original show. She has this little run of dialogue about how she’s interacted with characters from the original show in the last 15 years. This is a favorite part of the season for me,” Safran said.

On December 1, more than a year after the original season premiered, the series will return. This season won’t be split into two parts, so there won’t be a wait in between!
